Methods of positioning

The Align Wizard supports several methods to position the stamps. The methods differ in to what extent the positions of the stamps, groups and row order are preserved. Below the methods are described and illustrated with some examples.

Optimize only

This is the standard method for positioning. While repositioning and realigning the Align Wizard will try to preserve the position of the stamps, groups and rows as much as possible.

Example:

We will align 2 groups. The groups are positioned above one another and this will be preserved:

Rearrange and preserve rows

This method will preserve the order of rows of a group. This means that the relative positions of the stamps to one another are maintained. The position of the group, however, may change because the Align Wizard will try to reduce the amount of white space on a page.

Example:

We reposition the 2 groups of the example above again. The groups will be positioned next to one another to reduce the amount of white space.

Rearrange and split rows if necessary

This method may change the row order of the group. If a row gets too wide for a page or border the Align Wizard will split the row. The second part of the row will be positioned below the first part.

The position of the group may also change because the Align Wizard will try to reduce the amount of white space on a page.

Example:

We reposition a group of 6 lying stamps of 30 x 20mm. The top most row is too wide for the page and will be split:

Rearrange and do not preserve rows (minimize rows)

This method may change the row order of the group. The Align Wizard will try to position as many stamps on a row as possible. The number of rows will therefore be reduced.

The position of the group may also change because the Align Wizard will try to reduce the amount of white space on a page.

Example:

We reposition a group of 2 standing stamps of 20 x 30mm and 2 lying stamps of 30 x 20mm. The 4 stamps will be positioned next to one another:
